The Piano Lessons Software Expert

The electric keyboard is a musical instrument, which is played using a piano keyboard and produces sound with the help of electricity. In earlier times, the keyboard was mechanical but these days the electric variety is used more than the traditional piano. The traditional piano is a keyboard instrument, but it is not electronic in any way. Synthesizers, workstations and portable arrangers are keyboard instruments that use electricity.

Electric keyboard produces a variety of sounds and this is done by combining, as well as generating, signals of various frequencies. The frequencies are converted into the electrical signals and then amplified to produce sound through the speakers. But the root of the electric keyboard is in the piano itself, it has evolved from the traditional piano.

Modern keyboards came into existence only in the later part of the 20th century, almost in the 1970s. This new revolution started about thirty years ago. It is not a very old form of musical instrument. But since it was introduced, it has gained in popularity over the years. The effect of the electronic keyboard is visible in all parts of the music industry.

Everybody today prefers these kinds of keyboards. Today’s bands, groups and musicians have had a boost in popularity due to the electric keyboard. The sound that is produced is simply perfect when played in front of a live audience. They have also made it possible to produce unusual sound effects that have added extra attraction to their music performance.

Almost all the bands have begun to use the electric keyboard regularly since the 1980s. Most popular songs of the 1980s feature music using electric keyboards. The best part of these keyboards is ability to replicate the sound of the traditional piano as well as many other instruments.

Spelbound declared winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2010

Monday, June 7, 2010

An acrobatic group known by the name of Spelbound has been declared as the winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2010, a televised variety talent show competition broadcast on ITV in the United Kingdom. As the winning act of the show, Spelbound have won £100,000 (US$144,580, 120,313, A$175,079) and a place at The Royal Variety Performance, an annual gala evening that is attended by senior members of the British Royal Family.

In no particular order, the top three acts were revealed to be two dancers known by their stage name of Twist and Pulse, gymnastic group Spelbound and Kieran Gaffney, whose act involves playing on the drum kit. After Kieran Gaffney was revealed to be in third place, Anthony McPartlin, who hosts Britain’s Got Talent with Declan Donnelly, said to Kieran: “Well done Kieran. Kieran, you’re a star, you came back, you got all the way to the final. I know you’ve loved this. You’ve loved this, haven’t you?” In response to this, Kieran Gaffney stated: “Thank you very much. Thank you, everyone for supporting me. Thank you.”

Shortly afterwards, on the episode that was broadcast live on ITV1 on Saturday, Anthony announced: “After tens of thousands of auditons, five semi-finals and an amazing final, this…this is it. One of you is about to walk away with £100,000 and a place at this year’s Royal Variety Performance. The winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2010 is…Spelbound!” Glen Murphy from Twist and Pulse commented about finishing in second place, stating: “Yeah, it’s amazing. I can’t even believe it. I can’t believe it at all.”

Alex Uttley, a 24-year-old member of Spelbound, commented on the gymnastic group’s victory, commenting: “Oh, my god. This is unbelieveable. We just want to say thank you to everyone out there. It just shows that all our hard work has paid off.” One of the coaches of Spelbound, named Neil Griffiths, stated about Spelbound: “Oh, they’ve worked so hard over the last few weeks. Um, since the semi-final, we…we really had to pull out the stops to try and up the game. They’ve not known they’ve worked in the gym from six in the morning till twelve…twelve o’clock of the night. I couldn’t have asked for more. Um, it’s a team of coaches. I don’t take all the credit myself. There’s, uh, two people up there that know who they are who’ve been fantastic.”

Spelbound consists of 24-year-old Alex Uttley, Nicholas Illingworth, aged 24, Adam Buckingham, aged 21, 20-year-old Adam McAssey, 19-year-old Douglas Fordyce, 18-year-old Edward Upcott, 18-year-old Leighanne Cowler, 17-year-old Katie Axten, 17-year-old Lauren Kemp, 15-year-old Jonathan Stranks, Abigail Ralph, aged 15, 13-year-old Hollianne Wood and Amy Mackenzie, aged 12. Bookmakers had previously predicted that Spelbound would be the most likely act to become the winner of the series.

The running order for the final started with Twist and Pulse. The second act to perform was Liam McNally, a 14-year-old singer. The running order subsequently continued with 40-year-old impressionist Paul Burling, singer Christopher Stone, aged 28, Tina & Chandi, a woman and dog dancing act, Connected, a five-piece singing group, Kieran Gaffney, aged 12, 22-year-old Tobias Mead, a dancer, 80-year-old singer Janey Cutler and Spelbound in that particular order.

Earlier on in the final, Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden has stated to Spelbound: “We are hosting the 2012 Olympics and I think ‘what a brilliant opening act’.” Fellow judge Piers Morgan also commented that “[t]he purpose of this show is to identify hidden great British talent. You are that act.” After Spelbound won in the final, another judge, named Simon Cowell, stated that “the right boys and girls won on the night” and that he could “only say on live TV that that was one of the most astonishing things I have ever seen. Seriously.”

Get to Know Do’s and Don’ts of Painting a Kitchen

Painting is an easy and most inexpensive way to update your kitchen. If you’re never painted your home kitchen before, it can seem like a baffling task, especially when it comes to picking the colors and finish for painting kitchen walls. Yellow, red, blue, white, green and gray are all the popular paint colors for kitchen walls. The yellow color is a cheerful shade which can create a welcoming space while the red can feel intense; both are considered to stimulate the appetite. If you are planning to go for low-key shades, blue, white, green are great choices, and they offer calming shades. If you want to modify your kitchen, here are a useful list of do’s and don’ts to make sure your house project goes smoothly.

Choose the Right Color and Paint Finish

When it comes to painting, there are two types to choose from: oil paint and the latex paint. Oil paint is highly resistant to water, which is why it works well in kitchens. It also tends to be quite shiny, so it’s mainly used on cabinets, woodwork, and doors. Latex paint is the more handsome option for kitchen walls, and it comes in several different finishes. Selecting the right paint finish is crucial when painting a high-traffic space. Paints come in some finishes, from flat to the high-gloss. The general rule of thumb is the more matte the finish, the harder it is to clean. If a finish is glossy, it leads to being more “scrubbable.”

Don’t Forget Dust Sheets

Numerous things can go awry when painting elements of your kitchen but as they say failing to provide is preparing to fail. With this in mind, it is necessary that you prepare for the job thoroughly and make sure that you have the correct tools with you. To limit the spills and splashes, use a dust sheet to shield the areas that you don’t need to paint and use masking tape to bind it in place.

Do Create a Dust and Grease Free Environment

Before you begin the process of painting, you must wipe down all of the surfaces to formulate a dust free environment. Use a vacuum cleaner to dislodge dust from the kitchen floors. The kitchen is a space where food is prepared and cooked and it quite normal for a particular amount of grease to build up over time. Failing to wipe surfaces and cabinets down with a grease remover will defend the paint from sticking, and you won’t receive the flawless finish you fancy.

Don’t Skip the Sanding Stage

It can be intriguing to cut corners when painting a kitchen, but it isn’t wise to skip the sanding stage. To get the top results, you should use sandpaper to create a smooth base on which to apply the paint. Promptly buff all of the areas that you are going to paint, and once the surface is matte, you are always one step close to the kitchen painting process.

Don’t Forget to Remove Hardware and Hinges

Kitchen painting involves a fair amount of preparation and one of the steps to finish before you can begin kitchen painting is to remove all of the handles from your kitchen cabinets and drawers. You should also remove the hinges at the same time as abandoning this step can head to peeling and chipped paint.

Do Take Your Time

Once all of the paintings is complete, do not rush to put your cabinets and drawers back in their place. Allow each piece to dry perfectly before you risk touching them as you could risk smudging the paint and damaging the surface of your cabinets. Hurrying the process could lead to you having to start over from scratch so always give yourself enough time to execute the project.

Follow our tricks and tips to simplify the kitchen painting process and transform your kitchen today.

New Jersey to consider bikini waxing ban

Friday, March 20, 2009

New Jersey is considering a state-wide ban on Brazilian waxes, the removal of hair from the bikini area.

Although genital waxing has never really been allowed in the state, the New Jersey Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling plans to propose a ban with more specific legal wording, in response to two women who reported being injured during a wax. The board will consider the proposal at their next meeting on April 14.

If the measure passes, New Jersey may become the only US state to ban the practice outright.

Although millions of Americans engage in bikini waxes, which generally cost between $50 and $60 per session, the practice comes with risks. Skin care experts say the hot wax can irritate delicate skin in the bikini area, and result in infections, ingrown hairs and rashes.

Waxing on the face, neck, abdomen, legs and arms would continue to be permitted in the state under the proposed ban. Although New Jersey statutes have always banned bikini waxing, the laws were unclear and seldom enforced.

As a result, many salons from around the state have offered bikini waxing for years. Many salon owners spoke out against the proposed ban, which they said would severely damage their business.

“I really don’t know if the state can stop it at this point,” said Valentia Chistova, owner of the Monmouth County salon Brazil. “I know a lot of women who are really hooked.”

First becoming famous in her native Ukraine in the 1990s, long-haired self-described “AmazonRuslana gained international recognition for winning the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest with her song “Wild Dances,” inspired by the musical traditions of the Hutsul people of the Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains.

New Jersey backpedals on proposed bikini waxing ban

Saturday, March 21, 2009

New Jersey has reversed its plans for a state-wide ban on bikini waxing after salon owners from across the state spoke out against the proposal.

The New Jersey Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling planned to consider a ban on so-called “Brazilian waxes” in response to two women who reported being injured during a wax.

But state Consumer Affairs Director David Szuchman, who oversees the board, asked them to abandon the ban in favor of reviewing and establishing safeguards for those who provide the service.

“Many commentators have noted that the procedure could be safely performed,” Szuchman wrote in a letter to state board President Ronald Jerome Brown, according to the Asbury Park Press. “I, therefore, believe that there are alternative means to address any public health issues identified by the board.

Salon owners from across the state expressed relief with Szuchman’s decision.

“It was an unnecessary issue,” spa owner Linda Orsuto told the Associated Press. “In New Jersey especially, where the government has been picking our pockets for so long, it was like, ‘Just stay out of our pants, will you?'”

Although millions of Americans get bikini waxes, which generally cost between $50 and $60 per session, the practice comes with risks. Skin care experts say the hot wax can irritate delicate skin in the bikini area, and result in infections, ingrown hairs and rashes.

Waxing on the face, neck, abdomen, legs and arms are permitted in New Jersey. Although state statutes have always banned bikini waxing, the laws are seldom enforced because the wording is unclear.

If the measure had passed, New Jersey might have become the only US state to ban the practice outright.

Although Szuchman’s letter was crafted more as a recommendation than an order, media reports said the ban would likely never be approved without his support because his office oversees the board.

Save Your Money Import Your New Car Into Canada Yourself Without The Need For A Broker

By Robert C.C. Lamb

It is not difficult to import a new car into Canada by yourself. In the process you should save yourself a fair chunk of money. The steps are fairly simple and straightforward. It simply comes down to following the rules as laid down by the Canadian government agency – the Riv, which is the (Canadian Registrar of Foreign Motor Vehicles). The Riv publishes a list of ‘Motor Vehicles Admissible from the United States’. Follow this list, and in addition ensure that you have completed any additional requirements from your local Canadian province or territory (For example Northwest Territories, the Yukon and Nunavut). It’s no more complex than this procedure. It should be noted that to import a new car without the use of a professional auto import broker is relatively easy and straightforward. If you have a more exotic or challenging case then you may wish the services of an established, professional automotive broker and / or importer. If you are importing a used car, then it may not be as simple a matter of importing a new car, where everything is relatively new and standards and procedure have all been set and established by the government agencies. In such a case as well you should consider the services of a broker. In the end it may be an easier and less expensive route.

The main webpage of the Registrar can be found at the website: http://www.riv.ca/english/html/how_to_import.html

The specific list of vehicles admissible to Canada can be found at: http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/importation/impusae.htm

The list is available in simpler html format at: http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/importation/VAFUS/list/menu.htm

YouTube Preview Image

And a more elaborate html format at: http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/importation/VAFUS/list/menu.htm

Basically the list is composed of a few columns. Admissible vehicles, inadmissible vehicles and a column for ‘notes’. Simply put ensure that your vehicle that you wish to purchase and import is listed in the ‘admissible’ section , not listed ( pay special and specific attention to year of manufacture) in the ‘inadmissible section’ and lastly that there are no special notes referring to your vehicle of choice, in the area marked ‘notes’. If you are unsure or need clarification, it is always better in these situations to be safe rather than sorry. Call or email the registrar to confirm and clarify. A car stranded on the ‘other side’ of the border is of no use to you. You will be left with no car to drive in Canada and a car that must be sold to a person residing in the United States. In such a case you will to go through the trouble and expense of having to sell the car to a willing American buyer – perhaps for ease of sale sold on eBay. Again the key is to do your homework as well as taking the time to check and verify. By doing so you should be able to easily import your new car, at less cost than you would pay otherwise, with little trouble and fuss.

If your vehicle that you plan to import into Canada is less than 15 years of age you will have to find out if it qualifies for importation under Transport Canada’s Registrar of Imported Vehicles (RIV) program. The RIV’s program is set up to ensure that qualifying models imported into Canada are modified , inspected and certified to meet Canadian standards, You can most easily visit the Riv site online at http://www.riv.ca/. Alternatively you can phone the toll free number, email or snail mail.

The key question to have answered on the Riv site or in direct communication with the Registrar of Imported Vehicles that your car, truck or S.U.V. is admissible for importation into Canada according to the gold standard – ‘Transport Canada’s List of Vehicles Admissible from the United States. Next it is essential totally that your vehicle is NOT on the Inadmissible List. This Transport Canada list is your bible for importation of your vehicle into Canada without a broker. Lastly ensure in the third column marked ‘notes’ that there are no overriding further restriction in regards to your vehicle and that any modifications noted and insisted on in the column can be completed as well as accomplished within a cost factor within your choice and budget.

Assuming that you have accomplished all the above. Before your vehicle can leave the United Sates it must be cleared for export by U.S. Customs. Fax the bill of sale, title and relevant documents to the appropriate U.S. Customs office at least 72 hours prior to your arrival at U.S./ Canadian Border.

Your next process will be to clear Canadian authorities. Again if you have prepared the proper documentation – Bill of Sale , title , clearance letter from the U.S. Customs office and a recall clearance letter on official letterhead from the dealer or manufacturer of the vehicle stating that all recalls have been performed on the vehicle. You will be asked to pay approx $ 300 Riv fees at that time, GST (General Sales Tax) on the price of the vehicle. If your vehicle was manufactured in the NAFTA (North America Free Trade) areas of the United States, Canada or Mexico you will not pay additional import duties and taxes on the vehicle, which are generally about 6 %. Depending on your geography and jurisdiction you may or may not have to pay provincial sales tax at the time point or later when the car is registered and licensed. Lastly if your car has air conditioning installed you will be asked to pay an excise fee of $ 100.

You can now cross the border. You are almost home free. Riv has appointed the national automotive chain Canadian Tire to conduct the final inspection of your vehicle and perform any modifications required. The fee of inspection is included in the Riv fee at the border. Any modifications or work necessary is at your expense. In the case of some luxury brands inspection, modification and certification can only be done at factory authorized retailer. You can only be given the essential recall clearance letter until this authorized dealership route is completed.

You are now cleared, almost at the successful completion of importing your new car into Canada, without a broker. The final step is to register and license your new vehicle in your local provincial or territorial area. You have imported your new vehicle – all without a professional import car broker. It is all a process, which is carefully outlined. Follow the steps. If you are unsure – call or email. In the process you will have your new vehicle and saved a lot of your hard earned money.

Bomb blasts in Athens destroy Finnish diplomat’s car

Tuesday, January 3, 2006

Three home made bombs exploded during the night in Athens, Greece. One of the bombs destroyed a Finnish diplomat’s car. No one was injured in the bombings and a Greek group claiming to be anarchists has told local media that it committed the bombings as retaliation for the jailing of fellow anarchists. The Finnish Foreign Ministry has said that it believes it was an accident that Finnish diplomatic property was damaged – as all the evidence points to this -, and Finnish diplomats in Athens are said to be calm.
